Dexter is played by Michael C Hall and the actor’s approval was crucial for the return of the forensic analyst whose alter ego, the dark passenger, dispensed his own homicidal justice on people he believed had got away with nefarious crimes.
In 2018, Hall alluded to the possibility of Dexter returning from his years as a lumberjack in the pacific Northwest. But, he said:” I have just yet to, for my part, imagine or hear someone else’s idea that makes it feel worth doing.”
It appears that mood has changed because Hall is once again to star as Dexter in showtime’s upcoming 10-part season and will reunite with his former showrunner Clyde Phillips.

Dexter Season 9 Cast
The main cast members of Dexter have gone off to various projects. For instance, Michael C.Hall had a brief role on The Crown and starred alongside Adam Driver in the 2019 film The Report.
According to the deadline, Hall has gone on the record saying he’d be willing to come back to the role that made him famous if the opportunity came along, and that’s apparently what happened. As of right now, Hall is the only main cast member who has been confirmed to return, but there are other actors who could easily make appearances in this revival.
He would assume we’ll see David Zayas as Angel Batista and C.S. Lee as Vince Masuka also come back for this upcoming season. As for whether Jennifer Carpenter will return as Debra Morgan, who died at the end of Dexter season 8?
Clyde Phillips, the showrunner of Dexter for its four seasons, has said that it’s possible Carpenter could return for the Dexter revival to portray her character in flashbacks, dreams, or memories. ” There is some flexibility to do some movie magic. That’s all I can say about that,” he told us Weekly. However, Phillips hasn’t said for certain that she will return, as it’s a question he “can’t answer” right now.
Dexter Season 9 Plot
The story converges on Dexter (Michael C.Hall), a forensic technician, who specializes in bloodstain pattern analysis. He works for the fictional Miami Metro Police Department. Conversely, he leads a covert parallel life as a serial killer. He hunts down the murderers who’ve escaped the hands of justice!
He is orphaned at the age of three when his mother was murdered in cold blood by drug dealers. Later on, he is adopted by a Miami Police officer Harry Morgan (James Remar). Due to Dexter’s antecedent sociopathic tendencies, Harry guides Dexter to channel his bloodlust into Vigilantism.
To aid cover to his profuse homicides, he gets recruited as a forensic analyst. Dexter is very cautious and discreet. He wears gloves, uses plastic-wrapped ‘kill rooms’, sections the corpses, and disposes of them in the Atlantic Ocean.
The show received many awards. Two Golden Globes by Michael C.Hall and John Lithgow for their roles as Dexter and Arthur. The series mostly gained positive reviews throughout. Although, with the advancing seasons the reception normed out.
Dexter Season 9 Storyline
Dexter was presumed dead after his boat capsized during a hurricane in the series finale. In the show’s shocking final moments, Dexter was revealed to be alive and living a solitary life as a lumberjack in Oregon. The series finale was very controversial, with fans unsatisfied with Dexter’s ending.
The revival will take place 8 years after the Dexter finale, with the serial killer living in a new place “we’ve never seen him before,” executive producer Clyde Phillips told TV Insider. Clyde also hinted at a lot of death in Season 9 . “Dexter always has what we call ‘the dark passenger’ living inside him,” he continued. ” He is more grounded than he’s ever been, but that dark passenger is a voice he cannot deny. This is dexter. People are going to die.”
Dexter Season 9 Trailer
He may have retired at the end of the series but what are the odds of Dexter Season 9 actually happening? Dexter is based on the 2004 novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by author Jeff Lindsey and follows the title character, played by Michael C.Hall (Six feet under). Dexter is a forensic technician who works at the Miami Police who also moonlights as a prolific Serial Killer. Instead of innocent victims, however, Dexter’s targets are other serial killers.
Dexter’s first few seasons felt fiercely original and were laced with black humor and lashings of gore. The show was also grounded by Hall’s fantastic central performance, which was backed up by Jennifer Carpenter’s turn as Dexter’s adoptive sister Debra.
For many, the show peaked with its acclaimed fourth season, which featured an incredible recurring role for John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer, with the season-ending on a shocking twist. Later seasons marked a turning point in the show’s popularity, with storylines becoming increasingly outlandish and silly. It ended with Season 8, with Dexter’s series finale “Remember The Monsters?” being met with a mostly negative response.
